Training

Mona Vale SLSC run training course across all major surf lifesaving awards.

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)

Candidates will have completed a 200 metre swim in five (5) minutes or less, unaided (goggles/mask permitted), in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres, or over a measured open water course which will be observed prior to the candidate undertaking any water training or assessment activities, evidence of which must be provided to the Assessor on the timed swim form prior to commencement of the assessment for this qualification.

Bronze Medallion

To become a surf lifesaver you need to join a surf lifesaving club. To become a full patrolling member, you will also need to obtain your Bronze Medallion qualification.

To hold a Bronze Medallion, you must be at least 15 and demonstrate proficiency in surf awareness, survival, patrol and rescue procedures, emergency care plus a knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Candidates must be at least 15 years of age on the date/s of assessment.

Candidates will complete an unaided swim (goggles/masks permitted) of 400 metre swim in nine (9) minutes or less, in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres, or over a measured open water course which will be observed prior to the candidate undertaking any water training or assessment activities, evidence of which must be provided to the Assessor on the appropriate form prior to commencement of the assessment for this qualification.
